The overall aim of the Kanyama HDSS is to routinely and continuously monitor demographic, public health, and development indicators, in order to facilitate: (a) evidence-based Government policy-making and strategic development planning; (b) efficient and effective public service response to existing and emerging health and developmental problems; (c) community empowerment, participation and accountability; and, (d) higher education and scientific research training.
